DHSA Short Story Competition 2016
The Association sponsored this competition for the third year running. Open to all girls in the school and organised by Mrs Jessica Boswell, a member of the English department, entries were divided into three sections – Senior (UV-UVI), Middle (UIV & LV) and Junior (Remove & LIV) – writing respectively on the themes ‘Talisman’, ‘Shadow’ and ‘Mirror’. The judging panel comprised of seven Old Seniors who between them possess years of experience in journalism and publishing.
The prize winners were Senior: Gemma Mountain LVI, Middle: Isabel Fincham LV and Junior: Saskia Robbiati LIV.
The Clare Balding Prize for the highest scoring entry went to Saskia Robbiati.
All the prize winners and the runners up enjoyed a bespoke creative writing course at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford before attending a prize-giving supper with the Chairman of the DHSA, Mrs Bridget Wheeler (Campbell, 1980).
