Mountaineer Mollie Hughes – the ascent to Everest.
Mountaineer Mollie Hughes yesterday smashed the Everest record and will go down in history.
Mollie, who spoke so inspiringly at the Michaelmas Term Junior Medley Lecture at Downe House in December, had already summited Everest from the south side. Her ambition to scale the summit from the north side too was then in its preparatory stages and has now become a reality.
We send huge congratulations to Mollie on this world-class achievement.
Lower School girls who attended the Medley Lecture were inspired by Mollie’s ambition, drive and commitment to succeed. As the first Englishwoman, the first European woman and the youngest Briton to reach the peak from both the north and the south sides, she has shown that, with the right preparation and mindset, it really is possible to aim high and reach for your dreams.
