How To Support

As part of the fundraising effort the School is offering supporters the opportunity to name or sponsor a room, or to make a donation to the Centre for Learning project. There are also opportunities to provide financial support through bursaries, giving more young girls a chance to benefit from the transformational opportunity a Downe House education can provide.

The School has had an enormous amount of positive support over the years. Success breeds success, and everyone likes to see progress and momentum.  So over the last year the School has been approaching parents personally, with many already pledging their support.

The School Governors agreed to support the project with a gift of 2 million, a private phase of fundraising raised just over 2.7 million from current and past parents, governors and alumnae, and a further 1.7 million has been donated in the final phase of the fundraising campaign. A further and final 100,000 is all that is needed to complete a state-of-the-art Centre for Learning facility that will enhance the level of learning and boarding experiences for our girls significantly.

Previous generations of parents and alumnae have left Downe House better than they found it which has brought the School to its current state of good health.  You, in turn, have the opportunity to contribute to the continued work of the School for the benefit of future generations, and to make Downe House a school to be proud of.

Michelle Scott"Downe House is not a school that is rich with endowments. It relies solely on fee income and on the generosity of its community - current and former parents, alumnae and others.

The School was not originally established as a charitable foundation and has no major endowments for charitable purposes, but it has acquired charitable status in more recent years as a natural consequence of its work in fulfilling its fundamental purpose of providing an excellent all-round education.

We have the determination and the expertise – and a glowing track record – to be able to deliver tomorrow's level of education today.  All we need is the financial resources to make it possible and to create a state-of-the-art Centre for Learning facility that will transform the level of education for our girls."
