A Day at the Races

3 June 2024

The Downe House Society is our thriving community for our pupils, alumnae, staff and parents (present & former) around the globe. The Society’s vision is to strengthen and enhance our termly events programme as well as connecting members of our community through social and professional events both on and off campus.

Recently, Mrs McKendrick (Headmistress) and Ms Litvack (Development Director) hosted an exciting ‘Day at the Races’ for our Downe House parents.

The day began at Highclere Stud, one of the world’s leading independent stud farms. With 300 acres of undulating hills and lush grassland, it was the stunning setting for Downe House alumna Emily Scott, Director of Racing at Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, and Jake Warren to share their deep understanding of thoroughbred breeding and racing.

Moving to the Highclere box at Newbury Racecourse, our parents enjoyed an afternoon of racing. The highlight of which had to be when a Highclere horse won the final race.

It was wonderful to see our parent community come together at this wonderful event. Our thanks go to the Highclere team for the perfect day.
