Musical Enrichment

Downe House has a wealth of musical ensembles for girls at all levels, from beginners to diploma-standard instrumentalists and singers. This page gives an insight to the many group music-making opportunities that your daughters have available to them. All ensembles rehearse weekly and there are many concerts, both formal and informal, throughout the year at which the ensembles perform.

Being a member of an ensemble not only allows the girls to explore a great variety of musical styles and enjoy making music with friends, but also helps them to develop their self-confidence, resilience, creativity and imagination. This impacts on subjects across the curriculum as well as nurturing musical and performing skills and gain an insight and passion for music in a wider context. There are also a number of student-led groups.
