Examination results

‘Work Hard – Aim High’ is a mantra that Downe House girls adopt. The personal triumphs at the heart of our remarkable results are testament to that.

Turning aspiration into reality

We work hard to provide girls with the very highest quality of academic tuition and opportunities for personal development needed to fulfil their potential and achieve their best results. Girls are supported and encouraged to turn their aspirations for the future into reality and it is always the personal triumphs and individual achievements of the girls that give most pleasure. However, the statistics provide plenty of evidence of the academic success that our girls achieve.

These young women have worked extremely hard and have every reason indeed to be proud of all of their achievements. In 2024, at A Level, 83% of the grades achieved were A* to B with the A*-A percentage remaining consistently high, at 60%. More than 87% of our students took up places at their preferred choice universities and institutions in the UK and abroad, studying a diverse range of subjects.

You can read further details of our pupils’ university destinations here.

At GCSE, 74% of all grades were awarded at grades 9-7 (A*-A), and just under three quarters of our girls achieved 7 or more A*-A/9-7 grades. In addition to success in the core subjects, we are delighted to have seen impressive results across the curriculum with many faculties achieving a high % of  A*-A/9-7 grades, including Science (80%), Languages (81%), English (86%) and Creative Arts (78%).
