Teacher of Photography: Ms Natalie Bloor
The course is not just about taking photographs but is more a question of exploring a new medium of expression, which in turn aids self-discovery. Exposure to the work of traditional and contemporary photographers and filmmakers gives students the opportunity to develop their own style of work and creative practice.
Students will have access to the Photography Darkroom where they can discover and learn the traditional aspects of this medium; such as processing their own film, producing chemical prints with opportunities for experimentation in developing, printing and presenting images.
The Digital Suite also provides girls with the opportunity to work in a contemporary format, while Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom offers the chance to experiment with digital manipulation and image editing. Students wishing to create video pieces are encouraged to do so and the Department facilitates those who wish to pursue multi-media work.
The A Level course offers a good foundation in image-making for anyone considering a career in the arts or media. The course follows the OCR Art & Design specification. Explore our Photography Gallery below to see examples of work.
