Celebrating World Environment Day

11 June 2020

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The theme for this year was biodiversity. One million plant and animal species risk extinction, largely due to human activities, and therefore the School’s Eco-Committee (the DECOs) decided to mark the day by challenging members of the Downe House community to do something to help wildlife or biodiversity in their local areas or homes.

Girls, their families, and staff alike took up the challenge and it has been wonderful celebrating so many examples of individuals and families getting involved and doing what they can to support the natural environment.
