Kirsten Mortimer, Director of Creative Arts, relays how Downe House Students shone at GENerate’s 2025 Exhibition.

Now in its third successful year, the GENerate exhibition at The Base Arts Centre in Newbury continues to grow as a celebration of exceptional young talent. This annual event brings together some of the finest student artwork from schools across a 30-mile radius, and this year’s showcase is more impressive than ever, featuring contributions from sixteen regional schools. Among them, Downe House proudly presents ten remarkable pieces spanning Fine Art, Textiles, Photography, and 3D Design, crafted by our exceptionally talented pupils.

On Thursday, 9 January, the private view of the exhibition buzzed with excitement as students, teachers, and parents gathered to mark its opening. It was a special moment for our Lower Sixth exhibitors, who were thrilled to see their creative efforts recognised and displayed in a professional gallery setting. Feedback from attendees was glowing, with many commending the diverse range of materials, techniques, and concepts on display.

The GENerate exhibition is more than just a platform for showcasing creativity; it’s a celebration of the power of artistic expression within education. It offers young people the opportunity to share their unique perspectives and engage with the wider artistic community, inspiring both those who exhibit and those who visit.

The exhibition wrapped up on January 26. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and supported the region’s next generation of artists!
