Rich and rewarding activities

The richness of learning provided within the classroom only goes part way to illustrate the opportunities that boarding at Downe House brings. Believing in the importance of providing a broad and balanced education, we offer a comprehensive range of Co-Curricular activities, with something to suit everyone.

Designed to instil a sense of adventure, encourage each girl’s natural curiosity and inspire a thirst for knowledge, our programme provides for busy and active evenings and weekends. Girls enjoy cinema trips, baking, crafts, cycling, trampolining, equestrian, dance, Harry Potter World, Cadbury World and a plethora of enriching activities. In fact, with so much on offer, there is simply never time to be bored and it is whilst having so much fun that the girls form strong bonds with friends in other Houses and year groups.

There is a tremendous range of experiences on offer, giving the girls a chance to challenge and enjoy themselves, whilst learning about the world around them and their place within it. Many activities also take place around the yearly programme of major events, such as House Drama, Dance Showcase, House Music, Founder’s Weekend, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, School concerts and Sports Day, as well as numerous excellent charity fundraising events.
