We are hugely proud of our pupils who are celebrating an impressively strong set of GCSE results today.

This talented and enthusiastic group of girls is to be congratulated for both their academic achievements and, just as importantly, for their contributions to wider school life – in sport, creative and performing arts, co-curricular activities and representing their Houses. We are delighted for all our pupils for whom personal commitment to their studies, along with the support and encouragement of their teachers and families, has been rewarded.

This year, 75% of passes were graded 9-7 (the equivalent of A* or A), with nearly one-third of passes at grade 9.

These percentages are expected to rise as re-marks and adjustments are made, and a complete overview of all our results will be published on our website by early October.

In addition to success in the core subjects, we are delighted to have seen impressive results across the curriculum. Notable results were achieved in our Art & Design department, with 100% of Textile Design pupils awarded an A* equivalent. Likewise, all Music candidates achieved a Grade 9 or 8. In Science, pupils achieved a combined average of 78% Grades 9-7 across Biology, Chemistry and Physics (with 43% achieving a Grade 9 in Biology). In French, an impressive 89% of candidates achieved Grade 9-7 (with 45% achieving a Grade 9). In Computer Studies, 83% of our girls achieved the equivalent of an A* or A, with these same top grades awarded to 79% of both Geography and Religious Studies candidates.

The girls are now set to thrive in our vibrant Sixth Form, where they will be joined at the start of term by an unprecedented number of new students who have chosen Downe House for their A Level studies.
