We are so proud of the extensive talent displayed across our Downe House Lacrosse teams, especially when our girls are chosen to represent their home teams for international competitions!
Wales will be hosting the Lacrosse Home Internationals Tournament 2024 at Cardiff University Playing Fields throughout the Easter holidays and Downe House is going to be well represented! The Home Internationals is an annual competition and the climax of the domestic lacrosse season. It sees England, Wales and Scotland go head-to-head in what are always extremely passionate and highly competitive games. This year’s tournament also includes the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands as guest teams which is exciting.
In the Senior Women’s, Miss Williams (Staff, DH2020) and Anna Neville (DH2020) will be representing Wales and England, respectively. In the U18 festival Annie (Upper Fifth) has been selected to compete for the U18 Wales Performance team; Jess (Upper Fourth) and Amelie (Upper Fourth) for the U18 Wales Development team; and Mia (Upper Fifth) for the U18 Ireland National team. A huge congratulations to them all, we are very proud and look forward to hearing how they get on.
Downe House is also going to be well represented at the Hong Kong Open 2024 that is taking place over the Easter holidays. Katy (Upper Fourth) has been selected to compete for the U20 China Women’s National Team; whilst both Ada (Upper Fifth) and Kallie (Upper Fifth) have been selected for the U20 Hong Kong Women’s National Team. This is a wonderful achievement and the most we have ever had competing at this tournament.
Ada and Kallie are also both still in contention for selection for the U20 Hong Kong team that will be competing at the U20 Women’s Lacrosse World Championships 2024 in Hong Kong. They will both be hoping to impress and cement their place in the World Championship team.
Meanwhile Angela (Upper Sixth) and Michelle (Lower Sixth) have already ensured that Downe House will be represented at the U20 Women’s Lacrosse World Championships 2024. Both have been selected for the U20 China Women’s National Team. Whilst Angela has previously competed for China on the World Stage at the Senior Women’s Lacrosse World Championships 2022, this will be Michelle’s first taste of international competition. We are not sure who is more excited – them or us!
Downe House is also currently represented by Amelia (Upper Fifth) at Netherlands Lacrosse and by Ella (Lower Sixth) who trains with the England National Academy. Ella will be hoping to be selected for the U18 England team in upcoming competitions this year. England are not taking an U18 team to Home Internationals this year.
