Meet Luke Brown

We are delighted to introduce our new Contemporary Dance teacher, Luke Brown who is keen to share his passion and expertise with his pupils.

18 November 2020

Contemporary Dance has become a very popular option at Downe House and the Dance Department has appointed Luke Brown, the Artistic Director of Luke Brown Dance. Luke graduated from London Studio Centre in 2012, having specialised in Contemporary Dance and toured with INTOTO dance company. Since graduating he has worked as both a dancer and choreographer for companies including Frantic Assembly, English National Opera, Junk Ensemble, Ben Wright and Lila Dance Company. In 2014 Luke formed Luke Brown Dance with the aim to create emotionally charged and accessible performances, combining dance, text and storytelling.

Head of Dance, Miss Olivia Ward caught up with Luke in between classes and asked him about his new role, his career to date and how he is adapting to teaching dance under the COVID-19 restrictions amongst a whole host of other questions! Watch the video clip or follow the link below to the full interview.

Head of Dance, Miss Olivia Ward said,

Luke is going to be a wonderful asset to the Dance Department at Downe House bringing his collaborative and incredibly creative approach to our newly formed Dance Academy – we have already started work on our next dance production which will be Mulan and I know he will be instrumental in making it a huge success and a very valuable experience for the girls. I am very much looking forward to working with him and on behalf of everyone would like to welcome him to Downe House.
